I did a few hours of research before I bought this adapter. I had bought a Tunebase for my brother on a road trip a year ago, and really liked using his, though it was an older generation.
This TunebaseFM for iphone and ipod does not throw error messages when you place the iphone 3G in the dock in your car (many others do, they still work, but it's annoying). It just works the way it's supposed to. Though it doesn't say it's specifically for the 3G, it works as if it is. Be aware that there are two models of Tunebase, one that says it's for ipod and one that says it's for ipod and iphone. That iphone version is different. I believe there's a new one coming out as well that can talk to the dock connector, I'm not reviewing that one.
As for usability, I have it plugged in through the aux port, which is conveniently located just below the LCD screen instead of on the charger, like on the other one I tried. The LCD seemed to occasionally have parts of the number disappear when I first got it, but that seems to have gone away with use. I'm not using it anyway, so if you're reliant on the LCD part, heads up. I'd say if it hasn't cleared up within a week or two like mine did, then there's a problem. It would have still been usable even when the display acted weird had I needed to use it.
The sound quality is great. Before I had an official iPod dock rigged into my car and it wasn't a good way to go. This fits perfectly and gives a lot less gsm/cell phone signal buzz and engine whine. It turns to the side for landscape viewing which is occasionally useful. The cigarette lighter adapter holds the thing pretty tight, maybe too tight for some ports. It doesn't fall over, even on hard cornering from either the lighter plug or the landscape swivel. Aside from some bouncing in the neck, it stays where you put it.
I would recommend this product.
I purchased it from seller: mariadias . The item was shipped promptly, properly and with a faster service than I ordered, but since I was at a new address the post office tried to forward it to the person who used to live in my new place. Maria was prompt in answering my questions about shipping (verified the address) so I could get things straight with the post office and get my Tunebase FM for iphone and ipod ASAP. Couldn't be happier. |

Driving 500 miles through various terrains/cities/roads can be really nerve racking for listening to your favorite music. But, wait instead of looking for good stations on the good old radio.....how about pushing one button on the Belkin TuneBase and it tells you what station to tune in so you can listen to your faves on your Ipod music static free.
Good, flexible mounting "neck" also keeps Iphone steady and sturdy. Easy to read digital station settings make it breeze operate and follow. A bonus to this Iphone/IPod listening experience is the fact that the TuneBase charges your gear at the same time. Means even after long hours of driving, you can undock your Iphone and it's fully charged and fuctional for hours. |
Great buy!

| This is by far the best FM Transmitter around for the iPhone 3G! No static, finds the best FM stations to broadcast on, and charges the iPhone 3G fast! Very very happy with this product. Would recommend to anyone. |

| After trying the Belkin Tunecast cable and being completely disapointed by its performance. I came back to a new version of an old faithful. Being a previous owner of the TuneBase FM for iPod, I like the easiness of use of the device. The TuneBase is still the best device out there to transmit music from an iPod or an iPhone. If your car allows you to plug the TuneBase FM get this device. Also the ClearScan feature actually works to help you find the best stations on the road. |

| it's great, and it swivels nicely which makes it helpful for many reasons other than simply listening to music. |
